Brazil initiatives focus on UN 2030 Agenda and sustainable development

Various initiatives in Brazil are focusing on the progress of the United Nations' 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

UNISUAM is hosting the V International Symposium Agenda 2030 on October 8 and 9 in Rio de Janeiro. The event brings together researchers, public officials, and specialists to discuss circular economy, innovation, and sustainable urban development. Key topics include climate change, urban planning, and carbon markets. The symposium aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical initiatives to address environmental and social challenges.

Additionally, the 10th edition of the Relatório Luz (Light Report) by civil society will be launched online on October 14. Produced by experts from 40 organizations, the report monitors the fulfillment of the SDGs in Brazil. This edition highlights setbacks and stagnation in meeting global targets, with a specific focus on how extreme climate events and environmental racism disproportionately affect homeless populations, victims of gender and racial violence, and traditional communities.
