Brazil INSS issues guidance to keep retirement benefits flowing
The National Institute of Social Security (INSS) in Brazil warned beneficiaries to take five key steps to avoid interruption of monthly payments. These include regularly updating personal and banking data, attending scheduled medical examinations, meeting contribution and waiting‑period requirements, responding promptly to any benefit revision notices, and consulting a specialist when needed.
Separately, the INSS clarified upcoming changes to the special retirement regime that will take effect in 2026. The new rules adjust age and contribution thresholds for workers exposed to hazardous conditions and tighten the evaluation of proof documents, especially the Perfil Profissiográfico Previdenciário (PPP). The guidance aims to streamline the approval process for eligible professions such as health workers, industrial laborers, and electrical technicians.
