Brazil intensifies domestic violence prevention and protection measures

Authorities in Brazil are intensifying efforts to combat domestic violence through new municipal pacts and specialized police operations.

In Adamantina, São Paulo, the municipal government signed a pact to strengthen public policies for the prevention and protection of women. This initiative includes the arrival of the ‘SP Por Todas’ Integrated Circuit for Women's Protection, a state government program that centralizes psychosocial support, legal guidance, and risk assessment in a single location to reduce the need for victims to repeat their accounts to multiple institutions.

Simultaneously, in Pato Branco, Paraná, the Military Police (PMPR) launched ‘Operation Mulher Segura’ as part of a statewide mobilization. The operation involves the Maria da Penha Patrol, which conducts home visits to victims, monitors protective orders, and executes arrest warrants for domestic violence offenders. These actions aim to increase coverage in rural areas and smaller municipalities while improving the humanized treatment of vulnerable women.
