Lulinha investigation reveals luxury trip and embassy assistance

Federal Police investigations have revealed that lobbyist Roberta Luchsinger organized a luxury trip for Fábio Luís Lula da Silva, known as Lulinha, and his family to see the aurora borealis in January 2025. According to budgets found on Luchsinger's phone, the trip through Sweden, Finland, and Switzerland cost approximately R$ 1.86 million, with additional expenses potentially exceeding R$ 2 million. The itinerary included high-end services such as a private chef, a butler, and a private jet charter from Switzerland to Stockholm.

Simultaneously, messages recovered from Luchsinger's phone indicate that the Brazilian Embassy in Madrid, under then-ambassador Orlando Leite Ribeiro, provided assistance during Lulinha's relocation to Spain in 2025. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Itamaraty) confirmed that the embassy's educational sector provided information regarding local schools, though it denied providing a diplomatic vehicle for private use.

The Federal Police are currently investigating Lulinha in three separate inquiries at the Supreme Federal Court (STF) for suspected influence peddling and corruption, including potential links to the fertilizer company Unigel. The investigations are being overseen by ministers Flávio Dino and André Mendonça.
