Brazil's cachaça sector adds 21% more establishments, reaching 1,583 in 2025
The 2025 Anuário da Cachaça released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) recorded 1,583 registered establishments in Brazil's cachaça production chain, an increase of 272 units (21%) over 2024 – the strongest growth since 2018 and a 61% rise since that year. The Southeast region holds the majority with 961 establishments, driven by Minas Gerais (564) and São Paulo (230), together accounting for over 62% of the sector. Other regions host 277 establishments in the South, 211 in the Northeast, 70 in the Center‑West and 19 in the North, covering 844 municipalities.
The sector sustains an average of 6,232 jobs in 2025, representing 4.4% of employment in the national beverage‑manufacturing industry. Export activity expanded to nearly 8 million litres to 76 countries, a 19.4% rise year‑on‑year, generating revenue above US$17 million. The United States was the top buyer by value, while Paraguay bought the largest volume.
ApexBrasil announced an investment of R$ 2.63 million to promote Brazilian cachaça abroad, aiming to diversify markets amid trade uncertainties with the United States. The program, in partnership with the Instituto Brasileiro da Cachaça (Ibrac) and its president Vicente Bastos, will support participation in international fairs and business matchmaking.
