Brazil IT sector faces 30% professional deficit

A study conducted by Inteli in partnership with WKS reveals a significant labor shortage in Brazil's information technology sector. Between 2019 and 2024, there was a 30.2% deficit in qualified professionals, with a demand for 665,000 workers against an available supply of 464,000.

Software development (35.7%) and infrastructure and support (23.2%) are the areas with the highest number of opportunities, followed by data and artificial intelligence (17.7%). The research notes that technology has become transversal, impacting sectors such as health, agribusiness, and finance.

Regarding entry points, internships account for 39% of professional entries, while junior-level positions represent 31% of the market. To address the shortage of mid-level and senior professionals, 36% of market entrants are utilizing career transitions or bootcamps. The study also highlights a growing demand for soft skills, specifically communication, creativity, organization, teamwork, and leadership.
