Carlo Ancelotti Remains Brazil Coach After World Cup Exit

Brazil were knocked out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the round of 16, losing 2‑1 to Norway in New Jersey. Following the defeat, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced that head coach Carlo Ancelotti will continue in charge through the next cycle, up to the 2030 World Cup. CBF director of football Rodrigo Caetano said Ancelotti is the “our coach and will remain so for the whole cycle,” rejecting any talk of dismissal.

The federation also highlighted the stability of the coaching project, noting that Ancelotti’s contract runs until 2030 and includes a salary of more than R$ 55 million per year, with a contractual termination penalty of about R$ 6 million. The decision comes amid criticism of tactical choices during the Norway match, but CBF officials argued that continuity is needed after a period of frequent coaching changes.
