Brazil launches Informa.BR AI platform for public data access

The Brazilian federal government released a new digital service, Informa.BR, on Tuesday, June 30. The platform uses artificial intelligence to search across government portals—including the Transparency Portal and the Open Data Portal—and returns links to requested public information.

Informa.BR integrates the country's Access to Information Law (LAI) procedures, allowing any individual or legal entity to request data without justification. If a search does not locate the needed material, users can file a formal request directly through the system. The tool is administered by the Controladoria‑Geral da União (CGU). Existing channels, such as the Fala.BR platform, remain active for complaints and will continue to handle non‑LAI outreach, while the full migration of LAI requests to Informa.BR will be announced later.

The launch aims to centralize and simplify access to federal, state and municipal data, enhancing transparency and citizen participation in Brazil’s public administration.
