Brazil launches national survey to map tourist demand and behavior
The National Tourism Demand Survey (PNDT) has launched across 50 to 54 Brazilian municipalities to map the socioeconomic profiles and behaviors of travelers. This initiative is a collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism and Itaipu Parquetec, coordinated by the Brazilian Network of Tourism Observatories.
The study aims to collect approximately 22,500 in-person interviews by October 3. Researchers are gathering data on travel motivations, planning, transportation, accommodation, duration of stay, and expenditures. Additionally, the survey evaluates visitor perceptions regarding infrastructure, service quality, accessibility, security, connectivity, and pricing.
In Mato Grosso do Sul, the cities of Três Lagoas and Campo Grande were selected for participation. In Três Lagoas, data collection is focused on hotels, shopping centers, and nautical areas. The results, expected by April 2027, are intended to assist the government in formulating consistent public policies to support the ongoing expansion of the national tourism sector.
