Brazil launches national survey to profile tourist demand

The Ministry of Tourism and Itaipu Parquetec have launched the National Tourism Demand Survey (PNDT) to profile traveler habits, preferences, and spending across Brazil. The initiative aims to conduct approximately 22,500 in-person interviews in 50 municipalities nationwide by October 3.

In Paraíba, the survey is being conducted in João Pessoa and Cabedelo, targeting Brazilian and foreign tourists aged 18 and older who are staying overnight. Researchers are collecting data on transportation, accommodation, length of stay, activities, and expenditures. The study also evaluates visitor perceptions regarding infrastructure, service quality, accessibility, security, connectivity, and pricing.

According to Minister of Tourism Gustavo Feliciano, the data will support the development of consistent public policies to sustain the sector's growth. The findings will be integrated into the National Observatory of Sustainable Tourism, with specific municipal data expected to be available by April 2027.
