Brazil launches new musical and free environmental play in São Paulo and Paraná

A new Brazilian musical, "Festa no Arraial," adapted loosely from Shakespeare's *A Midsummer Night's Dream*, opened at Teatro Sabesp Frei Caneca in São Paulo's Shopping Frei Caneca. The production, directed by Thereza Falcão with a script co‑written by Mariana Mesquita, runs from 24 July to 16 August and features a large cast including Claudia Ohana and Lorena Tucci. The show blends romance, comedy and fantasy within a Junina festival setting.

Meanwhile, the community theatre in Araucária, Paraná, presented a free, family‑friendly performance titled "O Sonho de Catarina" by the Senhores Furtados company. Staged at Teatro da Praça on 25 July at 19:00 and 26 July at 16:00, the play combines theatre, music and puppetry to promote environmental awareness, encouraging audiences to consider sustainable habits.
