Brazil launches second phase of mobile phone trade crackdown

The Brazilian Ministry of Justice and Public Security, through the National Public Security Secretariat, has launched the second phase of ‘Operation Last Call’. This permanent, integrated action aims to combat irregularities in the mobile phone trade.

The operation focuses on inspecting commercial establishments that sell mobile devices illegally, including those linked to criminal activities or products with irregular origins involving the Federal Revenue, State Revenue, and Procon. Authorities are also targeting the sale of unauthorized products, such as clandestine TV boxes and improperly imported mobile devices.

This initiative follows a first phase conducted in August, which focused on recovering stolen or looted phones and tackling the illegal resale chain. The operation promotes integration between federal agencies and security forces to strengthen oversight and enhance public safety regarding mobile device usage.
