Brazil launches Sem Parar toll card and popular driver’s license scheme

The Sem Parar toll card uses RFID technology to allow drivers to pass through toll plazas without stopping, automatically debiting a pre‑paid account. It is accepted on multiple highways and aims to reduce travel time and stress for motorists across Brazil.

The CNH popular program, also called the popular driver’s license, is a government initiative that subsidises the cost of obtaining a driving licence for low‑income citizens. Managed by state DETRAN agencies, the scheme covers exam fees and driving courses to improve employment opportunities and road safety by regularising unlicensed drivers.

Both measures target greater mobility and inclusion within Brazil’s transport system, offering faster toll payments and more affordable access to driver licensing.
