Brazil leads 2026 global cryptocurrency adoption index
Brazil has risen to first place in the 2026 Global Crypto Adoption Index released by Chainalysis, surpassing the United States and India. While Brazil did not lead in any single specific category—including service inflows, domestic peer-to-peer activity, cross-border flows, or on-chain balances—it maintained a top-four position across all metrics, demonstrating consistent strength relative to its market size.
The Brazilian crypto economy is valued at $252.5 billion. In the updated rankings, the United States secured second place, leading in total flows and on-chain balances. Other top-ranking nations include Nigeria, Japan, and South Korea.
Globally, the crypto economy saw a 1.6% decline despite a significant drop in total cryptocurrency market capitalization. However, domestic peer-to-peer transfers saw a substantial increase of 302.9%, with stablecoins accounting for 96% of that activity. Cross-border stablecoin transfers also grew by 77.5%.
