AI adoption shifts from experimentation to operational integration

The global consumer industry is transitioning from AI experimentation to large-scale operational integration. According to Deloitte, while professional access to AI tools has doubled in a year, a significant gap remains between adoption and value generation. Only 18% of companies currently report increased revenue attributed to AI.

Organizational maturity varies, with many companies moving from individual experimentation toward strategic integration. In the learning and development sector, a gap exists between vendor capabilities and buyer readiness. Experts suggest that for AI to provide true value, leaders must move beyond using it as a simple productivity assistant—the ‘ask-and-wait’ mode—and instead utilize it as a ‘co-thinker’ for complex decision-making.

In Brazil, the rise of the Chief AI Officer (CAIO) has introduced new organizational dynamics. A Thoughtworks survey indicates that 36% of Brazilian technology directors report friction or unclear boundaries regarding the CAIO role, the highest percentage among surveyed markets. Additionally, there are concerns regarding the impact on the workforce, specifically how AI might affect junior professionals by automating entry-level, repetitive tasks.

To achieve sustainable impact, businesses must address challenges in governance, talent qualification, and data infrastructure. Successful implementation requires human oversight to manage ethics, strategic vision, and empathetic customer relationships, which technology cannot replicate.
