The 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup will be the first edition of the tournament held in South America, with Brazil confirmed as host after winning the bid in May 2024 over a joint Belgium‑Netherlands‑Germany proposal. The competition runs from 24 June to 25 July 2027 across eight Brazilian cities – Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and São Paulo – using stadiums that also hosted the 2014 men’s World Cup. A one‑year countdown was marked by lighting the Christ the Redeemer statue, unveiling murals in each host city and screening a documentary on women’s‑football pioneers in Brasília. FIFA officials highlighted that the event will feature 32 nations, with Brazil automatically qualified as host.

Ahead of the tournament, analysts are evaluating the likely dark‑horse contenders. Teams such as Australia, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands and Sweden are considered outsiders. Australia’s Matildas, coached by Joe Montemurro, aim to build on a strong 2023 World Cup showing, while Canada, under Casey Stoney, seeks to improve after a goal‑less run last season.
