Brazil LGBTQ+ Pride Parades Call for Greater Political Representation

The Centro de Luta pela Livre Orientação Sexual e Identidade de Gênero (CELLOS-MG) organized the 2nd Minas Gerais Meeting of LGBTQ+ Pride Parades on 17 July in Belo Horizonte. The event gathered organizers from across the state, as well as national and international leaders, to strengthen political coordination, compile data, and finalize the state calendar of LGBTQ+ mobilizations.

On 28 June, Rio de Janeiro hosted its 4th LGBTQ+ Pride Parade at the Arcos da Lapa to mark International Pride Day. The parade, themed “Our Pride Also Defends the Ballots,” released a manifesto urging the election of more LGBTQ+ representatives to the national Congress and demanding policies on trans employment, education, health, and safety.
