Brazil luxury tourism expands as international visitor numbers surge

Brazil is experiencing a significant shift in its tourism sector, with luxury travel emerging as a high-value business driver. According to Embratur, the country received 9.29 million international tourists in 2025, representing a 37.1% increase over 2024 and a 46% rise compared to 2019 levels. This influx generated US$ 7.86 billion in foreign exchange, surpassing the National Tourism Plan's 2027 goal for visitor numbers ahead of schedule.

The luxury segment is evolving beyond traditional five-star hotels toward personalized experiences involving nature, gastronomy, wellness, and culture. High-income travelers are increasingly seeking privacy, authenticity, and exclusivity rather than mere ostentation. This trend allows diverse destinations—such as forests, vineyards, and historical sites—to offer high-value products.

Modern hospitality is also redefining the relationship between hotels and their locations. Rather than acting as isolated structures, luxury properties are integrating into the urban fabric by offering social and cultural spaces like restaurants, spas, and lounges that attract both guests and local residents. This approach emphasizes design and social connection as central components of the travel narrative.
