Brazil courts issue major sentences in fraud and homicide cases
Brazil's judicial system has issued several significant rulings across various criminal cases. In Amazonas, a man was sentenced to over 23 years in prison for leading a R$ 156 million Ponzi scheme. Operating through Grupo Lótus and Amazon Pagamentos Bank Ltda, the organization targeted public servants with fraudulent high-value payroll loans, promising returns through fake investments in cryptocurrency and Forex.
In other violent crime rulings, two men in Rio Branco received combined sentences exceeding 60 years for the accidental killing of a waiter.
