Brazil management vacancies decline amid technological shifts

Brazil has seen a significant reduction in management and director-level positions, with 322,000 vacancies eliminated between 2020 and 2025. Data from Novo Caged, as reported by Folha de S. Paulo, indicates that in 2025 alone, these roles saw a negative balance of 112,300 posts, despite the formal labor market creating approximately 1.2 million jobs during the same period.

This shift is attributed to organizational restructuring driven by cost reduction, high interest rates, digitalization, and more horizontal work models. The rise of artificial intelligence is also playing a role by automating tasks and allowing smaller teams to manage larger workloads, thereby increasing the demand for professionals who can integrate technical expertise with business vision and technology mastery.
