Brazil mandates national platform for electronic tax invoices, while free MDF‑e emission shifts to Bsoft
The free electronic Manifesto Eletrônico de Documentos Fiscais (MDF‑e) service was discontinued by the Brazilian tax authority in 2018. Companies can now test the Bsoft system, which allows two free fiscal emissions before requiring a paid plan, and offers integration with other documents such as CTe, 24‑hour support, and automatic updates.
Starting 1 August, the municipality of Vanini will require all service invoices to be issued through the national NFS‑e portal, as mandated by CGSN resolution 189/2026. Taxpayers must integrate their own systems with the portal or use the municipal site only for consultation, and are advised to issue any pending invoices before 31 July to avoid disruptions.
