Brazil marks National Lesbian Visibility Day with cultural events

In Brazil, various initiatives are marking National Lesbian Visibility Day through cultural events and historical preservation. The Grupo Arco-Íris de Cidadania LGBTI+ has launched the “Não Somos Só A Gosto” campaign, which includes social media content, institutional videos, and a series of events running through August 31. A central event, “Café com Bolacha,” will feature discussions and musical performances by lesbian artists.

Simultaneously, the Museu da Diversidade Sexual in São Paulo has inaugurated the “Alice Oliveira” exhibition. The showcase features 30 photographs, documents, and audiovisual records captured by activist and photographer Alice Oliveira. The collection documents feminist, lesbian, and LGBTQ+ movements in Brazil and Latin America during the 1980s and 1990s, including significant milestones such as the 17th ILGA Conference held in Rio de Janeiro in 1995.
