Brazil melon season begins with improved market outlook

The Brazilian melon season has commenced with the first shipments arriving at the port of Rotterdam for distributor C. Gottmann. The current season shows a more favorable outlook than the previous year due to lower planting volumes, which is expected to improve market balance and pricing after significant losses suffered by growers and exporters last season.

In addition to improved supply dynamics, the Brazilian domestic market for yellow melons is reportedly stronger. C. Gottmann, which works exclusively with the Brazilian supplier Potiguar for the European market, reports high product quality and strong demand for yellow melons and various watermelon varieties, including seedless and mini watermelons.

Following the Brazilian season, the company plans to introduce cantaloupe melons from the Dominican Republic in mid-November.
