Brazil Ministry of Finance authorizes R$ 12.9 billion in state loans

The Brazilian Ministry of Finance has authorized five credit operations totaling R$ 12.9 billion, backed by federal guarantees, for the states of São Paulo, Piauí, Maranhão, Pernambuco, and Rondônia. Due to the electoral period, these states must sign the loan agreements with federal financial institutions, such as Banco do Brasil, Caixa Econômica Federal, and BNDES, by September 7.

Finance Minister Dario Durigan detailed the allocation of funds for each state:

• São Paulo: R$ 5.4 billion from Banco do Brasil for urban mobility projects, including metro and train line expansions and modernizations, as well as water crossings and the Tamoios highway project. • Piauí: R$ 4.9 billion from Banco do Brasil for transport infrastructure, urbanization, water resources, digital transformation, and investments in agriculture, culture, and sports. • Maranhão: R$ 1.3 billion via Banco do Brasil for road infrastructure works. • Pernambuco: R$ 985 million from Caixa Econômica Federal for the Sustainable Development and Economic Growth Program, focusing on water infrastructure and basic sanitation. • Rondônia: R$ 323 million from Bradesco for road and urban infrastructure, including public lighting and the revitalization of parks and sports complexes.
