Brazil Ministry of Health warns of DenaSUS impersonation scam

The Brazilian Ministry of Health has issued an alert regarding a fraudulent scheme involving the National Department of Audit of the SUS (DenaSUS). Scammers are using WhatsApp to send messages claiming to conduct secret inspections of state and municipal health management.

The fraudulent messages misuse the name of the “Federal Audit” to propose illegal deals, offering to “correct” documents and prevent issues during inspections in exchange for financial advantages. The Ministry emphasized that no legitimate agency requests payments or benefits to alter documents or interfere with audits.

Official DenaSUS communications follow established institutional protocols, and health secretariats or councils are formally notified once an audit is defined. The Ministry has forwarded the documentation of this incident to the Federal Police and other competent authorities for investigation. Health managers are advised not to make payments or provide information to suspicious contacts and to save all records for legal purposes.
