Brazil municipal guards confiscate altered motorcycle and arrest telecom cable thieves

In Arapongas, the municipal guard seized a motorcycle whose chassis and engine numbers had been tampered with. The bike displayed a licence plate from Palhoça (SC) despite being recorded as deregistered for auction. After inspection revealed the altered identifiers, the driver and the vehicle were taken to the 22nd Police Subdivision without the use of handcuffs.

In Ribeirão Pires, municipal guard officers detained two men caught stealing telecom cables. The suspects, who claimed to be telecommunications workers, could not produce any work orders. Officers recovered 42 metres of cable, tools such as cutting pliers and a magnet, safety equipment, and the vehicle used in the theft, and they were handed over to the police station for further proceedings.
