Brazil municipal leaders showcase smart city innovation in Campina Grande and Maringá

The president of Brazil’s National Confederation of Municipalities, Paulo Ziulkoski, praised the inaugural Smart Cities Park held in Campina Grande, an event organized by the Instituto Paulo Ziulkoski, the Federation of Municipal Associations of Paraíba and the state government. The gathering brought together municipal officials, specialists and private‑sector representatives to exchange experiences on smart‑city solutions, highlighting the need for administrative reforms and the challenges of adopting technologies such as artificial intelligence in local governments.

In Maringá, Mayor Silvio Barros opened the Smart Gov Anciti 2026 conference, a national forum on technology, innovation and digital transformation in the public sector. Hosted by the National Association of Intelligent, Technological and Innovative Cities (Anciti) in partnership with the city’s Institute of Advanced Projects for Cities, Technology and Administration, the event showcased Maringá’s initiatives—Zero Waste, Green Property Tax, Citizenship Law, TechBus and Maringá + Digital—while discussing data governance, AI, cybersecurity and strategies to make municipalities more efficient and sustainable. Speakers included national officials, former mayors and experts who emphasized the importance of sharing best practices to accelerate municipal digitalization across Brazil.
