Brazil municipal initiatives focus on health, sustainability, and law enforcement

Various municipal and social initiatives are being implemented across Brazil. In the Bairro Oliveira community, the Fundo de Apoio à Comunidade (FAC) held a workshop focused on sustainability and the creative economy, teaching residents how to transform waste like PET bottles and used coffee filters into artisanal products to generate income.

In Campos, a task force cleared an irregular occupation in a Permanent Protection Area near the Rio do Paraíba do Sul to facilitate environmental preservation and future tourism projects. Meanwhile, Bragança Paulista launched a health initiative aiming to perform over 80,000 procedures by 2026 to reduce medical queues. In Cuiabá, health authorities are conducting technical visits to municipal health units and have expanded access to thalidomide for leprosy treatments at the Centro de Especialidades Médicas.

Other regional developments include Porto Velho implementing a digital registry for large waste generators, and the city of Cuiabá securing vacation payments for over 5,000 education professionals. In Sorriso, police launched Operation Pátio Paralelo to dismantle a group suspected of vehicle theft and money laundering involving approximately R$ 50 million.
