Brazil Navy Chief Dismisses US Invasion Threat, Affirms Strong Bilateral Ties

Admiral Marcos Sampaio Olsen, commander of the Brazilian Navy, told CNN Brasil that he does not believe the United States could or would invade Brazil. He emphasized that diplomatic tensions have not affected the long‑standing military relationship, which includes regular exchanges, joint exercises and close doctrinal alignment.

Olsen also noted recent cooperation during the United States Navy’s 250‑year celebrations, where Brazil was represented by a frigate, and highlighted ongoing intelligence sharing to combat transnational crime in Brazilian waters alongside U.S. counterparts, the Federal Police, the Revenue Service and environmental agencies.
