Brazil Navy opens sole air base to public for 110th Naval Aviation anniversary
On Sunday, 2 August 2026, the Brazilian Navy held its annual "Portões Abertos" at the Naval Air Base in São Pedro da Aldeia, celebrating 110 years of Naval Aviation. The event ran from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and was free to the public, with entry conditioned on a donation of one kilogram of non‑perishable food, which was later distributed to local charitable institutions.
Visitors experienced aerial displays by the Air Force’s Smoke Squadron, demonstrations by Navy, Army and Air Force aircraft, parachute jumps, drift shows, and exhibitions of military vehicles, aircraft and historic equipment. Children’s activities, a food court and a marching band were also provided. Registration was required in advance through the Sympla platform.
