Brazil opens civil society applications for COP31 delegation
The Brazilian government has opened applications for civil society representatives to join the national delegation for the 31st Conference of the Parties (COP31) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The conference is scheduled to take place from November 9 to 20 in Antalya, Turkey.
Applications must be submitted through the Brasil Participativo portal by Sunday, the 20th. The selection process aims to ensure the delegation reflects social diversity and mobilization regarding climate justice. Eligible entities include non-governmental organizations, institutes, foundations, social movements, cooperatives, unions, academic institutions, and representatives of traditional communities.
The Ministry of Racial Equality noted that the call is a significant opportunity to increase the participation of Black populations, Quilombola communities, and Roma peoples in the international climate agenda. The federal government will not cover participation costs, such as airfare, accommodation, or meals, which remain the responsibility of the selected representatives.
