Brazil opens new university and school cafeterias in Rio Grande do Sul and Paraná

A new restaurant at the Polytechnic College of the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) in Rio Grande do Sul was inaugurated on 8 March. The 760 m² facility can serve up to 89 people, operates from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and was built with an investment of roughly R$ 4 million. It is run by Restaurante Oliveira and aims to broaden food options for students, staff and visitors, especially those attending night‑time courses.

In the rural community of Quitandinha, Paraná, the State Rural College Dr Caetano Munhoz da Rocha opened a modern cafeteria, a new science laboratory and a covered sports court after a R$ 3.5 million investment by the state government. The cafeteria can accommodate about 100 students and replaces informal eating areas in the school’s courtyard. The renovation, the largest in the school’s history, also added electrical, hydraulic and structural upgrades, benefiting roughly 240 enrolled pupils.

Both projects reflect substantial public spending on educational infrastructure aimed at improving student welfare and learning conditions.
