Brazil opens youth photography and game development training programs in the Amazon region

The “Olhai por Nós – A Visão da Juventude Amazônida” project, organized by the Arte Ocupa collective, announced free applications for its first edition. Ten young people aged 15‑29 from peripheral neighborhoods of Manaus will receive three months of photography workshops with professional photographers, a monthly stipend of R$450, and the chance to exhibit a final work at the Museu Cidade de Manaus. Coordinator Sarah Campelo said the initiative aims “to put youth as protagonists and to speak about the peripheries from an inside perspective.”

Separately, the Programa Amazônia Geek opened pre‑registrations for a free hybrid course in digital game development. The six‑month program, running in Manaus, Porto Velho and Boa Vista, targets youth aged 15‑21 (women up to 29) and provides 29 hours of online theory plus weekly in‑person sessions at the Federal Institute of Roraima. No prior experience is required; participants will learn game design, mechanics, art, narrative and teamwork, culminating in project presentations at a final event.
