Brazil agribusiness shows mixed export trends with beef surge

Brazil's agribusiness sector is experiencing varied performance in international markets. In September 2026, beef exports to the United States surged by 524.3% compared to the previous year, driven by lower domestic cattle supply in the US and the suspension of certain tariffs. Despite this monthly spike, total Brazilian agricultural exports to the US fell 17.8% between January and September 2026, largely due to previous tariffs on various products.

Total Brazilian exports to the US reached US$ 3.52 billion in September, a 31.9% increase, though the cumulative year-to-date figure shows a 6.5% decline. Meanwhile, the Brazilian soybean industry is expanding, with processing capacity rising 13.1% to 86.4 million tons per year to meet demand for biodiesel and animal feed.

In other sectors, Brazilian chicken meat exports hit a historic quarterly record of 1.51 million tons between July and September 2026. Additionally, egg exports saw a 29.4% increase in September, though cumulative year-to-date volumes are down due to high comparative figures from 2025.
