Brazil orders education networks to revise full‑day schooling rules by October 31
A decree published in the Official Gazette of the Union on 23 June 2026 sets a deadline of 31 October 2026 for Brazil’s states, municipalities and the Federal District to update all normative acts that regulate full‑time education in basic schooling. The measure, approved by the National Education Council, aims to align local regulations – such as resolutions, ordinances, curricular guidelines, school statutes and pedagogical projects – with new national directives that expand school days and promote integral student development. Updated acts must be reviewed by the respective education councils and follow the Ministry of Education’s guidance.
The deadline applies to all educational networks and is intended to standardize the implementation of expanded school hours across the country.
