PCC infiltration in São Paulo prompts arrests of ex‑MP intern and police officials
Operation Infiltrados, led by the São Paulo Public Ministry and the Gaeco organized crime unit, resulted in the arrest of three suspects in Campinas and Cardoso. The detainees are former Ministry of Public Prosecutor intern Gabriel Lira de Jesus, former head of investigators of the DISE drug‑investigation unit Maurício Aparecido de Oliveira, and an ex‑civil police officer. Prosecutors allege the trio collaborated with the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC), using the MP’s internal databases to identify wealthy cartel members, extorting them for payments and leaking confidential information. They are also accused of planning the assassination of Gaeco prosecutor Amauri Silveira Filho. Ten search warrants and three temporary arrest orders were executed, and investigators seized computers, phones and documents. Authorities warned that the case highlights the risk of criminal infiltration within public security and justice institutions.
