Brazilian police seize over 2 tonnes of drugs in coordinated raids

Police forces in several Brazilian states carried out operations that resulted in the seizure of massive quantities of illicit drugs. In Oliveira, Minas Gerais, authorities seized about 1.5 tonne of marijuana, while in Santa Cruz do Capibaribe, Pernambuco, more than 3 kg of pressed cannabis were recovered from a residence. In Caravelas, Bahia, 11 kg of marijuana were confiscated, and in Acre, a cache of roughly 15.8 kg of marijuana was found in a house in Sena Madureira.

In São Paulo state, a man was arrested in Santos after a hidden suitcase revealed 16 kg of cocaine; a similar 16‑kg cocaine bust was recorded in the same city in a separate operation. In another case, a 40‑year‑old man who had swallowed 111 capsules of cocaine was treated surgically in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte; 38 capsules remained inside his body after the procedure.

These coordinated drug‑law enforcement actions, spanning at least eight states, underscore a broad effort to dismantle trafficking networks and intercept large drug shipments before reaching urban markets.
