Brazil police arrest men after violent attacks in Itajaí and Piracicaba
In Itajaí, Santa Catarina, a 44‑year‑old man on the streets assaulted a police vehicle, fled, and stabbed a female cyclist in the abdomen before attempting to attack an officer with a knife. He was subdued with civilian assistance and taken into custody; the cyclist required emergency surgery.
In Piracicaba, São Paulo, a man was arrested for attempting to murder his partner, who locked herself in a bedroom to escape. Police recovered a 38‑calibre revolver, a .22‑calibre gun, 51 rounds of ammunition and about R$14,100 in cash. The suspect was detained at the local women's‑rights police station pending investigation.
