Brazil police arrest suspects in Hilux thefts and illegal weapon rentals

Police in Cuiabá arrested two men after a suspect confessed to stealing a black Toyota Hilux and disclosed that the firearms used were rented from a man named Tiago. A raid on the alleged weapon‑rental address uncovered marijuana, a precision scale and ten .38 caliber cartridges. The suspects were taken to the Central of Flagrantries for further investigation.

In Cascavel, a separate incident involved the theft of a silver Toyota Hilux. After the vehicle was hijacked, its owner fired his own gun, prompting a police chase that ended with warning shots and the suspect’s arrest. The man admitted planning to smuggle the Hilux to Paraguay. Police recovered the owner’s firearm and seized two mobile phones, while the stolen vehicle was returned to its owner.
