Brazil police arrest suspects in separate sexual assault cases in Orleans and Marialva

Police in Orleans, Santa Catarina, arrested a 40‑year‑old man suspected of raping a vulnerable adult after administering a sedative drink. The victim was found disoriented, and forensic examination confirmed sexual violence. The suspect, already investigated for similar offenses, was placed in custody pending a hearing.

In Marialva, Paraná, a 66‑year‑old religious leader was detained on accusations of sexual assault and intimidation during private ritual gatherings. Women reported being forced to undress for a so‑called “unção,” during which the leader allegedly touched them. Authorities seized his phone for forensic analysis and continue to investigate potential additional victims, including minors.
