Brazil police arrest vehicle theft suspects in Bahia and Minas Gerais
In the city of Santo Antônio de Jesus, Bahia, a man suspected of hijacking a car, overturning it and fleeing on foot was captured about ten hours after the theft. Security-camera footage helped police locate and detain him in a rural area, where he admitted to the crime and was transferred to the local police station.
In Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, two men were arrested after attempting to drive away a stolen Hilux pickup from a supermarket parking lot. Police, acting on intelligence during Operation Cerco Total, observed the suspects using electronic devices to bypass the vehicle’s security system. The suspects were caught in the act, and equipment used for vehicle theft was seized.
Both arrests were carried out by state police forces and the suspects were handed over to judicial authorities.
