Brazil police chief and businessman captured in video linked to PCC plot to kill prosecutor

A video obtained by the São Paulo Public Prosecutor's Office shows former head of the drug‑investigation unit (Dise) in Campinas, Maurício Aparecido de Oliveira, meeting businessman José Ricardo Ramos, who is accused of participating in a plan to assassinate Gaeco prosecutor Amauri Silveira Filho.

The meeting was recorded a week before Operation Pronta Resposta (August 2025) dismantled the group suspected of the plot. On 9 June, Operation Infiltrados led to the temporary detention of Oliveira, ex‑civil police officer Itamar Gomes da Silva, and former MP intern Gabriel Lira de Jesus, all alleged to have acted as PCC infiltrators by leaking confidential information and providing protection to crime‑linked suspects. Ten search warrants were executed in Campinas and the nearby town of Cardoso, uncovering a network that allegedly facilitated the flow of privileged data to the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC).

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, with the accused maintaining their right to defense and no trial having commenced.
