Brazil police detain drunk drivers after crashes and gate breach

In Rio Verde, Goiás, a 59‑year‑old truck driver rammed a company gate with a two‑axle trailer, broke the entry barrier and attempted to bribe military police officers. A breath test showed 1.23 mg/L of alcohol, more than three times the legal limit, and an empty cachaça bottle was found in the cab. He was charged with driving under the influence, active corruption and property damage, facing up to 18 years in prison.

In Vitória, Espírito Santo, a 24‑year‑old driver collided with a Hyundai HB20 in Praça Asdrubal Soares. A breath test recorded 0.55 mg/L of alcohol, and open alcoholic beverage bottles were discovered inside the vehicle. The driver suffered a minor ear cut, refused medical treatment, and was taken to the regional police station for processing.
