Brazil police detain ex‑assembly candidate and probe death of Bolivian woman in drug trafficking cases

Brazil's Federal Police arrested Andrea P., a former substitute assembly candidate, after a routine bus inspection uncovered several concealed packages suspected to contain controlled substances. The woman was seized, handcuffed and placed in custody pending judicial proceedings, with authorities continuing forensic analysis to determine the nature and quantity of the drugs.

In a separate incident in São Paulo, the body of Dayana G. A., a Bolivian citizen approximately 40 years old, was discovered tied between two garbage containers. An autopsy revealed she had swallowed about one kilogram of cocaine in capsule form. Brazilian police are investigating whether her death resulted from capsule rupture or external violence and are coordinating with the Bolivian consulate for the repatriation of her remains while probing the wider international narcotics network involved.
