Brazil police arrest several drivers for drunken driving
Police forces in several Brazilian municipalities arrested multiple drivers for driving under the influence. In Cariacica, a 41‑year‑old man was detained after police observed signs of intoxication, he refused a breath‑alyzer and insulted officers while trying to leave a motel unpaid. In São Cristóvão, a 40‑year‑old driver was arrested after a lateral collision on highway SE‑065; his breath‑alyzer showed 0.97 mg/L of alcohol. In Chapadão do Sul, a 22‑year‑old man was chased and stopped after reckless, alcohol‑impacted driving and also refused a breath‑test. In Arapongas, a 41‑year‑old woman collided with several parked cars, displayed clear signs of intoxication and declined the breath‑alyzer. In Volta Redonda, a driver attempted to run over police officers, was stopped after police fired at his tire, and was found with a firearm, ammunition and without a driver’s licence. In Craíbas, a man was detained for insulting police while visibly drunk and was charged with contempt. All suspects were taken to police stations and face charges for drunken driving, refusal to submit to breath‑tests and related offences.
