Brazil security: Police investigations and recruitment updates
Security and law enforcement issues are surfacing across various sectors in Brazil. In São Paulo, the Military Police have launched an inquiry into the disappearance of six weapons from the 27th Metropolitan Military Police Battalion in Vargem Grande. Additionally, security footage captured an incident in the Artur Alvim neighborhood where a man was assaulted and forced into the trunk of a vehicle that mimicked a police cruiser.
On the political front, former Finance Minister Fernando Haddad reported that his driver was subjected to an atypical police approach and pursuit by the Military Police in southern São Paulo. The State Secretariat of Public Security has ordered an investigation to identify the teams involved.
Regarding public administration, the São Paulo Military Police have authorized 4,000 new vacancies for the role of soldier, with 2,000 positions currently being processed through active recruitment cycles. Meanwhile, in Fortaleza, the mayor has announced plans for a new civil guard competition to strengthen local security forces by 2028.
