Brazil police investigate two separate cases of femicide

Police in Brazil are investigating two separate incidents of violence involving women and minors.

In Crato, authorities are investigating the death of 38-year-old Camila Maria Gomes Rodrigues, who was struck by a truck's mechanical horse while riding a motorcycle. While a witness suggested the collision occurred during a high-speed maneuver, investigators are looking into whether the incident was a femicide. Witnesses described the victim's relationship with the driver, Fabiano Sales Holanda Lima, as “extremely jealous and possessive.” Lima was arrested in Piauí following the incident.

In Encantado, Rio Grande do Sul, Wagno Arezi Henika was arrested for the stabbing death of 14-year-old Alice Nitz. Henika, the victim's former stepfather, reportedly confessed to the crime, stating he “lost his head” following an argument. Although police initially considered vicariocide, they have reclassified the case as femicide, noting that the suspect maintained a peaceful relationship with the victim's family following his separation from the victim's mother.
