Brazil police log fraud scams in Bandeirantes and Pato Bragado
Police in the Brazilian municipality of Nova América da Colina recorded a fraud report on July 31, 2026 after a 46‑year‑old man was deceived via a WhatsApp message. The scammer, posing as the victim’s lawyer, obtained personal data and convinced the victim to transfer R$5,999.
In Pato Bragado, a resident filed a police report on August 1, 2026 after falling for a Facebook advertisement promising reduced interest on vehicle financing. The victim signed a digital contract, sent personal documents and transferred R$2,000, after which the scammers demanded further payments. Both cases were referred to the civil police for investigation and the victims were advised on blocking the transfers and possible recovery.
