Brazil police operations seize weapons, arrest suspects in São Paulo and Mato Grosso

The special police unit Gaeco carried out Operation Torneira in Valinhos, São Paulo, arresting a man for illegal possession of a firearm during a search‑and‑seizure raid. The operation, coordinated with military and civil police, targets a criminal organization linked to the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) involved in interstate drug trafficking and money‑laundering. Authorities executed 43 warrants across multiple interior cities, uncovering financial movements estimated at R$ 230 million and dismantling a network of front‑company schemes.

In Mato Grosso, the Polícia Civil’s Operation Sete Placas resulted in the arrest of a 70‑year‑old man in Alto Araguaia, who had repeatedly threatened his ex‑wife for over a decade. Police seized a high‑caliber .357 carbine, dozens of cartridges in 9 mm, .38 and .357 calibers, two loaded magazines and a pistol‑case, none of which were registered. The raid was part of the broader "Mulher Segura" initiative aimed at preventing domestic‑violence-related femicide by confiscating illegal firearms from abusers.
