Brazil police seize illegal motorcycles in Pernambuco and Rio de Janeiro

An integrated police operation in Belo Jardim, Pernambuco, known as Operação Rastreio, resulted in the seizure of four motorcycles suspected of identifier tampering, the arrest of two suspects—one for illegal firearm possession and another for contraband of anabolic steroids—and the closure of an unregistered motorcycle parts shop. The action was coordinated by the state’s vehicle‑theft task force, the civil police, military police, traffic department and tax authority.

In Itaperuna, Rio de Janeiro, the military police seized two motorcycles during a crackdown on dangerous stunts such as the "grau" wheelie. Four individuals, including two adolescents, were taken to the police station; the seized bikes showed missing plates and signs of identifier alteration. The operation was prompted by resident complaints and aims to improve road safety and curb illegal vehicle activities.

Both operations reflect a broader effort by Brazilian authorities to combat illicit motorcycle sales, dangerous riding practices, and related crimes, emphasizing public safety and market regulation.
